UK border controls, quarantine and queries

Border restrictions and quarantine requirements were introduced for people entering the UK from 8 June 2020.

This means that all those arriving into the UK, including British nationals and our staff and bar a small number of exemptions, will be required to self-isolate for 14 days and provide their travel and contact details to support track and trace.  These measures will affect our staff and business clients alike and undoubtedly there will be questions.  The first port of call is GOV.UK which has details of the requirements and the associated exemptions:

Queries from business

If your teams receive queries from business clients then the attached flowchart sets out how they should be recorded, escalated (if appropriate) and how the information will be handled. The majority of queries can be answered using the GOV.UK guidance and the DIT Q&A pack on Digital Workspace here (this was sent round in the internal comms bulletin previously and will be included tomorrow as well).  For queries needing extra support we will prioritise questions from Tier A and Tier B one list accounts and those highlighted by Directors or HMTCs.   These queries can be directed towards the BEAT team (

All business feedback and enquiries relating to quarantine should also be logged on DataHub as usual. This intelligence is vital for the 3 week review of the measures and will feed into regular reporting for No10.
